Profesor Ocasional 1

Biografía

Wilmer Barrera holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Los Andes, Venezuela, and has more than twelve years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the National Polytechnic School in Quito, Ecuador.

Since 2023, he has been working as a professor at Yachay Tech University. Previously, he served as a Mathematics professor at the University of Los Andes (Venezuela) and at the Technical University of Manabí (Ecuador), teaching in programs such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Public Accounting, Social Sciences, and Education with specializations in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. His teaching experience includes courses such as Introduction to Mathematics, Mathematical Logic, Calculus I–IV (or their equivalents), Differential Equations, Geometry, Complex Numbers, Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra, and Functional Analysis.

His research interests focus on analysis and differential equations, with particular contributions to fixed point theory. Currently, he is studying the algebra of hyperbolic numbers, where he has obtained significant results that have been presented at various conferences. In addition, he has successfully directed several research projects, as well as supervised undergraduate and graduate theses in Mathematics Education and Mathematical Research.
