Biography

Cristina Jeanneth Rodríguez Pólit is a Molecular Biologist and Biochemist with expertise in biomedical research, public health, human DNA analysis, mammalian cell culture, pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, and laboratory quality management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Goshen College (USA), a Master’s degree in Peace Studies and International Development from AMBS (USA), and a Master of Public Health from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador.

She conducted cancer research at the Goshen Center for Cancer Care (USA) and worked in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry in the United States. After returning to Ecuador, she held positions in laboratory accreditation at the Ecuadorian Accreditation Service (SAE), human DNA analysis and kinship testing at the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the Ecuadorian Red Cross, and mammalian cell culture and in vitro cell-based assays at the Biomedical Research Center (CENBIO), Universidad UTE. She later contributed to genomic surveillance at Ecuador’s National Institute of Public Health Research (INSPI), where she applied Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, including Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms, to characterize pathogens of public health importance. Her work has also included implementing laboratory quality management systems based on ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and ISO 15189 standards, as well as teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
