Oscar Fierro

Biography

Oscar Alexander Fierro Pita was born in Atuntaqui, Ecuador. He obtained a B.S. degree in Petrochemical Engineering from Yachay Tech University, with the honorable mention “CUM LAUDE”, in 2021. He carried out his curricular integration project focused on the design of equipment to measure photocatalytic properties. In this field, in 2022 he published a chapter in the book “Advances in Engineering 2021”, a compilation generated by national and international researchers.

Since November 2022, he is a Teaching Technician in the General Chemistry courses, belonging to the School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering of Yachay Tech University. Additionally, he is part of the Master’s program in Chemical Sciences and Engineering, with major in Materials Science and Engineering.

Summary of Interests

His research interests are focused on design and optimization of applied catalysts. In this area, he focusses on catalysts with photocatalytic and piezocatalytic properties, with a variety of applications, especially elimination of pathogenic microorganisms. Additionally, he has special interest in the analysis and optimization of industrial processes for petroleum refining, through the implementation of PROII software.
