Biografía
I graduated in Poland from the Pedagogical University earning a Master of Arts in Philosophy and Education in 2007 and from the Jagiellonian University, where I received a Master of Arts in Social Anthropology and Ethnology in 2008. In April 2018 I completed my CELTA certification through EF Quito, Ecuador. I am currently studying a postgraduate diploma in Migration, Development and Human Rights at FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales) in Quito, Ecuador. I speak Polish (native), English (C2) and Spanish (C2).
I have been teaching English since 2013. Before arriving in Ecuador, I worked for a Scottish NGO providing support for people with disabilities. I was also involved with an adult education and literacy project there, and I was an active member of the Nicaragua Learning Exchange group in Edinburgh, which was focused on sharing educational and social experiences between Nicaragua and Scotland. Later on, I worked with indigenous communities in the Potosí region of Bolivia. My teaching experience includes working with young learners, teenagers and adults. I taught General English and English for Academic Purposes to groups and in 1:1 classes in all levels (A1-C1/C2).
My research interests are twofold as they consist of the exploration of issues related to language teaching and an investigation in the area of social sciences.
I am interested in investigating how journal writing changes students’ writing skills, how technology affects learning, and how flipped learning influences students’ skills and their learning experience. I am currently involved in a research project entitled ‘Students’ perceptions on flipped vs traditional grammar learning in an English Foreign Language (EFL) university setting in Ecuador’.
In the area of social sciences my investigation focuses on the intersectional experiences of migrant struggles and solidarity in relation to social violence. More specifically, I am exploring the strategies and abilities of migrants in situations of crisis from the perspective of the migrant autonomy. I am currently working on the project entitled: ‘Solidarity and care. Practices of Venezuelan migrant struggle in contexts of social violence in Ibarra during the year 2019’.
