Emilio Carrillo, Ph.D.

PROFESOR OCASIONAL 3

Biografía

Emilio Carrillo received a B.S. in geology and a Ph.D. in basin analysis from the University of Barcelona (Spain). After spending three years working for oil industry in Colombia, he joined into Yachay Tech since 2016.

Summary of Interests
Complex structural areas and salt rocks in order to understand geodynamic evolutions of sedimentary basins and mountain generation processes. He applies his results to find hydrocarbon accumulations, ore deposits, tectonic and palaeoclimatic relations and origin mechanisms of earthquakes.

Current Research projects

  • Comparison between the geodynamic evolution of the Ecuadorian Andes and the Colombian and Peruvian Andes.
  • Neotectonics of the Chota Basin. Study of recent geological time to understand the paleo-seismicity, sedimentation, and erosion conditions in the Interandean Basin of Ecuador from the Pliocene to the present.
