The purpose of the visit was to know the High Performance Training Center and to hold friendly sports events with members of the community.
Sixteen athletes from Yachay Tech University visited the High Performance Training Center in Carpuela on Saturday, April 14, 2018. The students were part of the Women’s Soccer 7 team and the Men’s Ecuavolley team, who played friendly matches against teams of the community.
The goal of the outing was for students to acknowledge the wide range of sports scenarios that allow competitive athletes to complete training cycles. In addition, the friendly matches helped to carry out a technical control of the sports level of the teams.
The visit took off with a guided tour around the Training Center, which was provided by the staff. Through this tour, Yachay Tech students were able to see the spaces destined for training of high level athletes and the facilities where they receive academic training as well. These centers welcome athletes from all over the country.
For Heidi Carcelen, sports promoter, the experience that students get from these outings motivates them to attend their trainings and be more responsible with their matches. In this sense, she finds the interaction between the students and the members of the community in Carpuela very valuable. She also recommends having this type of outings more frequently to improve the performance of our athletes in friendly or official matches.
