The Vice Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Enith Carrión, M.A., visited Yachay Tech University to sign a cooperation agreement. The objective of this agreement is to establish collaboration bases and mechanisms between both parties for the joint execution of activities. These activities include pre-professional practices/internships, community service projects, development of degree projects, academic training, professional training and continuing education for the development of science, technology and innovation.
The event was attended by important authorities of Yachay Tech University, such as Andres Rosales, Ph.D., University Rector; Judith Vanegas, Ph.D., Academic Vice Rector; Manuel Caetano, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research and Innovation; Antonio Diaz, Ph.D., General Director for Research and Innovation; Enith Carrión, MSc, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mines and Mirian Rivera, MSc, delegate of the Minister and General Administrative and Financial Coordinator.
Andrés Rosales, Ph.D., Rector of YT, highlighted the importance of establishing cooperation ties with governmental entities so that students can benefit from activities that improve their academic capacity.
For Vice Minister Carrion’s part, it is an honor to establish cooperation agreements with Yachay Tech University, one of the best universities in the country. She also emphasized that these actions in energy matters will allow the implementation of strategic plans that contribute to the reduction of pollution, conservation, mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
This agreement will be valid for 5 years and will allow for research activities and field trips by faculty and students to study different energy plants in the country through technological innovation.
As part of the event, Vice Minister Carrión gave a conference titled “The Role of Academia in Energy Transition” for the academic community. In it, she highlighted the importance of the energy transition in energy production, distribution and consumption models, and emphasized the need to establish energy efficiency guidelines through the electrification and digitalization of all processes and sectors of the economy.
Through these actions, Yachay Tech demonstrates it is committed to continuing with the professional training of its students in different majors, programs and modalities, and to work collaboratively with government entities.
