The conference updated knowledge about teaching English and had the participation of instructors from the English Program of the University.
The Language Center of Yachay Tech University organized the international conference “Current EFL Teaching Practices”. This event took place on October 4, 2018, at the “Leonidas Proaño” auditorium of the Municipality of Ibarra. It was attended by national and international guests. The conference had no cost and focused on English language instructors from the north of the country.
During the conference, current techniques for teaching English were presented. The event was initially thought for instructors from the north of the country, but due to the importance of its contents, it was attended by instructors from provinces such as Pichincha and Guayas.
Topics related to technological tools, and the nature of teaching English were discussed during the conference. The first lecture, given by Rosetta Buick, explored methodologies to improve the reading and writing experience. The second conference, given by Cristina Salazar, addressed the new profiles that an English teacher should have, considering the factor that this language is an international language. Finally, the third conference, directed by Kevin Crane, focused on the use of Google tools in the classroom.
Dennys Montaño, director of the Language Center, was very satisfied with the great attendance that this conference had. He hopes to repeat this experience in different areas of Ecuador.
