Yachay Tech University inaugurated a leveling process on the islands with 13 students.
Yachay Tech University inaugurated its first academic leveling course on the Galapagos Islands. Orientation activities were held on June 20, 21 and 22, 2017, with local students. The event took place at the headquarters of the Center for Renewable Energy Information (CIER) and the Center for Renewable Energy (CEER) in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island.
The academic period in the islands officially started on June 27, 2017 and is taking place at the same CIER and CEER headquarters. The first generation of Yachay Tech in the Galapagos has 13 students, who will have the opportunity to choose Biology or Geology as their majors.
The first four semesters of their career will be imparted at the main headquarters of Yachay Tech University, located in Urcuquí, Imbabura. There, students will go through their Common Core and share experiences with peers from the rest of the country. As of the 5th semester, their subjects will be offered in the Islands in cooperation with research centers in the area.
Representatives from the Academic Department and the Student Welfare Coordination accompanied the new students during their orientation day.
