In this context, Diego Rueda was elected as Representative with 91 votes. Together with his work team, he will be responsible for contributing to the institutionalization, autonomy and university accreditation process.
José María Lalama, PhD., President of the Supervisory and Institutional Strengthening Commission (CIFI), and Rector of Yachay Tech, stated that: “We congratulate the elected Representative Diego Rueda and his team. Together we will work on the consolidation of Yachay Tech as a space for social convergence and knowledge for the development of the country, not only in economic terms, but in terms of academic, scientific, cultural, and personal fulfillment. We are confident that they will be key in the process of institutionalization and university accreditation”.
He pointed out that institutionalization, which is the capacity that public universities have to make decisions about their sphere of competence, is a fundamental element to achieve their goals. In this line, he made a special recognition to the Electoral Board, to Dr. Juan Ruano and to his work team, as their contribution made this democratic day possible.
Juan Ruano, PhD., President of the Electoral Board, stated that: “today, we show that we are becoming an autonomous University, we have democratically elected the representatives of the servants and workers, and we begin a new era for our university”.
Elected representative Diego Rueda stated that the democratic day held aided in the advancement of the institutionalization process and pointed out the importance of the servants and workers of Yachay Tech to have a representative to the Higher University Council.
The work plan of the elected representatives seeks to contribute to the institutionalization process while taking into account the co-government, one of the guiding principles in the higher education system, thus consolidating the autonomy of the University.
Rueda said that one of his objectives is to get the University to overcome the intervention stage to reach administrative and financial autonomy. He mentioned that progress has been made in spaces of coordination and participation with the rest of the constituencies of the university community.
Finally, the Rector wished success to the new representatives of the establishment of servants and workers to the Higher University Council, and ratified the commitment with Yachay Tech and the university community in building better days for the institution.
