Eduardo V. Ludeña, Ph.D., rector of Yachay Tech University, announced that Yachay Tech will preside over the Research Coordination of the Ecuadorian Network of Universities and Polytechnic Schools for Research and Graduate Studies (REDU). Yachay Tech was elected during the General Assembly of Rectors that took place at ESPE, in Quito.
The Research Coordination of REDU will allow Yachay Tech to link all research done by institutions that are part of the Network and to promote projects that bind together scientific research and the productive sector, especially in oil-related matters, through the creation of the National Petroleum Center. Representatives of the entities that are part of the Network were in charge of the voting process to elect YT.
In addition, it was announced that Yachay Tech was chosen to host the next REDU Congress in 2019, which will be held during the last four months of this year. It is expected that national and international speakers will be present to address strategic points linked to the research done by institutions of higher education in the country.
REDU was created in 2012 with the aim of bringing together the efforts of national universities to carry out scientific research, and it currently has 18 member universities and polytechnic schools and 10 associated universities.
