The formal sitting for the 9-year anniversary of institutional life of Yachay Tech was held on campus with the presence of institutional authorities, the recently elected authorities and members of the university community.
Julio Chacón, PhD., Professor of the School of Physical Sciences and Nanotechnology, began the ceremony by highlighting the achievements and important milestones of the university throughout these nine years, including 5 classes of graduates who are studying master’s degrees and PhDs at the most prestigious institutions around the world. Chacón highlighted the fact that the university is number one in research, and that academic, research and community engagement programs have been developed in collaboration with different institutions in the country such as the Higher Education Council (CES) and the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Senescyt) as a result of management, academic and administrative processes.
Chacón ended his speech by thanking all the students and faculty who take part in the training of great scientists and researchers and saying “Congratulations to all of you.”
As part of the event, awards were given to members of the university community, who marked their 5-year anniversary at the institution, professors-researchers who stood out for the impact of their scientific publications, and professors who published academic books as a result of their job.
Additionally, the Electoral Board for the Elections of Rector and Academic Vice Rector delivered the ID cards to the newly elected authorities of the university, of the Ser Yachay Movement.
Carlos Reinoso, PhD., President of the Electoral Board, thanked the university authorities, the elected Rector and Academic Vice Rector, and members of the university community for their attendance. Reinoso mentioned “With great honor and responsibility we have conducted this electoral process abiding by the regulations and so this morning marks a milestone in the current history of the university. Thanks to the authorities who had the opportunity to build this university”. He then proceeded with the announcement and delivery of ID cards to Jorge Andrés Rosales Acosta, PhD., as Elected Rector and to Carmen Judith Vanegas Espinoza, PhD., as Elected Academic Vice Rector.
Diego Pérez, EdD., Rector-President of the Supervisory and Institutional Strengthening Commission of Yachay Tech, greeted the university community by saying “Today is a very special day in which we celebrate another year of institutional life. Yachay Tech has established itself as one of the most important universities in science and technology with a research vocation that trains students focused on achieving their dreams. Yachay Tech is an institution ready to project itself into the future and continue to grow in all scientific, academic, and research aspects.”
The Rector highlighted the work that has been carried out in the institution and stated: “We started this process with the objective of reaching institutionalization and we have fulfilled it. Today marks the beginning of the autonomy that will allow you to continue dreaming high. Doctor Andrés Rosales and Doctor Carmen Vanegas, we are confident that you will lead this institution in the best way to meet all the challenges that arise during your new management”. He said goodbye with a: Long live Yachay Tech!
Yachay Tech celebrated its 9 years of institutional life with the announcement of institutional festivities and academic events showing its commitment, effort and dedication of the members of the university community at the service of a better society.
