Yachay Tech held its 5th convocation ceremony on campus on April 29, 2022.
In its 8 years of institutional life, Yachay Tech has opened its doors to young students who are eager to receive personal and professional training and yearn to reach one of the most anticipated moments of their lives: obtaining their university degree.
On this occasion, after two years of remote learning, the Convocation Ceremony of the Fifth class of Yachay Tech students was held in person and it gathered 83 students from the different majors of the University.
This ceremony evokes the completion of a successful university life full of desires, sacrifices and dedication of the now new professionals. The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, María José Calderón, PhD, began the ceremony with her opening speech: “Dear students, it is time to pursue challenges that come with dignity and pride, may this be a historic moment for you and the university.”
Diego Pérez Ed.D., Rector-President of the Supervisory and Institutional Strengthening Commission of Yachay Tech, stressed during his speech: “A great stage of education has come to an end and it is time to face new challenges, in order to serve our families, community, the country and life, because life is full of sacrifices that are transformed into achievements.”
Finally, the Rector congratulated and thanked the now professionals and all those who were part of this achievement and stated: “Life is about sharing the victories and defeats, the successes and failures” (…) “Thanks to the professionals of the fifth class of Yachay Tech, raise the name of your Alma Mater and feel proud of your institution”.
Once the Rector concluded his speech, the corresponding degrees were delivered to the students of the different Schools of the University in the majors of: Biology, Biomedicine, Physics, Nanotechnology, Mathematics, Information Technology, Polymers and Chemistry.
In addition, the 19 best graduates of the Fifth Class were recognized with the following distinctions: Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude.
Doménica Garzón, from Physics, was awarded the Summa Cum Laude distinction as the best Graduate of the Class, who highlighted: “We celebrate one of the best decisions we have made: choosing Yachay Tech, because science is the best way to change the country”. She ended by thanking all the members of the university community.
Events like this reinforce Yachay Tech University’s commitment and effort to train professionals who can contribute to the country and highlight the academic success obtained at this higher education institution.
