On September 16 and 17, 2022, students of the Bachelor of Natural Sciences and Environmental Education of the School of Education of the University of Nariño, Colombia, toured the university campus and visited the research laboratories.
One of the main objectives of the visit was to participate in the “1st Interuniversity Meeting on Education: Yachay Tech University – University of Nariño”, which gathered more than 50 students from the Experimental Sciences Education major.
During the meeting, three papers were presented by prominent professors from both institutions:
Dr. Carlos Pantoja (University of Nariño) presented the topic “Research Incubators”, to tell the experience that the University of Nariño has had in the creation of Research Incubators as a formative research strategy. Said strategy serves to get students involved in research processes, taking into account the phases of conformation, the evaluation processes, modalities of participation according to the areas of knowledge and also the participation of these projects in meetings or science fairs at the institutional, regional, national and international levels.
Dr. Ibeth Rendón-Enríquez (Yachay Tech) participated with “Chemistry and its Didactics” which sought to present an attractive approach to teaching Chemistry. At the same time, she shared some didactic possibilities that can be used when teaching this subject, either at the high school level or initial courses.
Dr. Levis Zerpa (Yachay Tech) presented the topic “The usefulness of logical-mathematical models in natural sciences”, whose purpose was to demonstrate examples of logical-mathematical models that have been fruitful in the history of natural sciences, as well as some logical analyzes of experimental methodology.
Finally, there was a presentation of the main projects developed by the students of both institutions as part of the Research Incubators and the PIENSA Projects.
As a result of the meeting, the program coordinators of both institutions promised to generate more spaces for meetings between the students of Yachay Tech and the University of Nariño. The plan is to generate an inter-institutional cooperation agreement for academic and research cooperation between both universities.
With these actions, Yachay Tech University reinforces its commitment to creating work spaces and inter-institutional cooperation to strengthen student education.
