Spiros Agathos, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Engineering, (ECBI, as per its Spanish acronym) was an invited lecturer at the VI International Course on Bioprocess Scale Up and Training in Bioreactor Operation. The event took place at Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Unal), sede Medellín, in Medellín, Colombia. His lecture was titled: “Immobilized Phenoloxidases in Reactors for the Oxidation of Emerging Contaminants: Considerations for Scalable Industrial Systems”.
The International Course was organized by Unal with the collaboration of Instituto Politécnico Nacional de México, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Over 100 graduate students, postdoctoral scientists and professionals attended the course, which lasted 5 days and had a theoretical and pragmatic approach.
The main goal of the event was to train the attendants in Bioprocess Scale Up and provide training in Bioreactor Operations. Additionally, the event sought to provide the Ibero-American scientific community with a platform to establish research collaboration
