Yachay Tech University signed an inter-institutional cooperation framework agreement with the Amarun Association (based in Paris, France), whose main objective is to develop and promote exact sciences and engineering in Ecuador.
Amarun comprises members with studies and work experience in different areas of science and engineering, as well as young scientists working in companies, research laboratories, universities or finishing their graduate studies (master’s or PhD) in several branches of exact and natural sciences and engineering. It has presence in various countries between America and Europe.
In this context, the purpose of this Agreement is to establish the bases and general mechanisms for collaboration between the two institutions to carry out joint activities, that will include pre-professional internships, community service projects, development of degree work, academic training, and professional training for the development of science, technology, innovation and research. All this, with a view to the advancement of knowledge in all the areas of common interest through planning, programming, carrying out collaborative actions and projects, and the exchange and mutual support that benefits the parties while abiding by the requirements of the academic, scientific, technological and social development of the institutions.
Yachay Tech and Amarun will define concrete collaboration actions within areas of common interest such as: development of pre-professional practices or internships for students in the last semesters; identification of areas and themes of mutual interest for the management of research and academic or technological development; organization of courses, conferences, seminars and workshops in those areas or themes deemed of institutional interest; study, development and implementation of research projects in areas of institutional interest.
Likewise, said actions will include the exchange of information related to courses, conferences, seminars and other activities of a technological-academic nature offered by the University and Amarun; exchange of publications and scientific and technical information on topics considered of interest, and the mutual provision of professional and institutional services in the respective fields of strength of each institution.
José María Lalama, PhD., Rector-President of the CIFI, stated that this agreement will allow the promotion of research for the training and academic development of students. In addition, he mentioned that thanks to the Amarun Association, students will have the opportunity to train at prestigious universities in applied and theoretical mathematics.
Diego Chamorro, PhD., President of Amarun, mentioned that pre-professional practices have been successfully carried out with Yachay Tech students and that he is open to have more students conducting internships through the cooperation agreement.
Currently, Yachay Tech is part of the Research Group on the general theme of Mathematical Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, organized since 2021 by the Amarun Association to strengthen scientific exchanges and collaborations.
