A sports activity for sustainable development
Yachay Trail race, a trail running competition, will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at 7:00 AM. This event is organized by Nicolás Serrano, María José de la Torre and Iván Chávez, Yachay Tech students, and representatives of SDSN Andes Youth. The event aims to contribute to the development of the network’s projects that are related to the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the UN in 2015.
Currently, there are 100 participants registered for the race that is divided into four categories: 7km, 12km, 17km, and 25km.
Every racer receives a participation kit, a sports bag from Prefectura de Imbabura, an official jersey, a bottle of sports drink, some fruit, and gifts from the sponsors: Prefectura de Imbabura, IT Empresarial, Bionatura Journal, El Pato Goloso, El Rincón de Moisés, Yachay Tech, and Yachay EP. The route of the race surrounds the City of Knowledge.
The 25km category starts at 7:00 AM, 17km at 7:30 AM, 12km at 8:00 AM and the 7km category at 8:30 AM. After the race, the participants will receive a prize and can take part in the award ceremony along with sponsors and the general public. The SDSN Andes is the center for regional coordination of the activities of the network. It manages all of the operations and communications, and it is the link that connects the members with partnered organizations. SDSN Andes Youth contributes to the main objective of the Network through activities that involve young people.
