Minimum Requirements:

1. Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Arts and Humanities, Languages, Literature, or Linguistics in the English language, or in related fields such as TESOL, TEFL, ESL, EFL, Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages, or Philology. The degree must be duly registered with SENESCYT (the Ecuadorian Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation).
2. Proof of English proficiency at the C1 level or higher.
3. A minimum of 80 hours of academic training or professional development in the broad field of knowledge within the last four (4) years.
   – Certificates must demonstrate that the training is related to teaching, research, or disciplinary activities.
   – Participation in conferences, seminars, and/or workshops will be recognized as 8 hours per day of attendance.
4. At least twelve (12) months of documented teaching experience in higher education.
   – This must be supported by an official personnel action form or certificate issued by a higher education institution (HEI) legally recognized in Ecuador, or an equivalent institution in the private sector.
5. A minimum average performance evaluation score of 75% from the institution(s) where the candidate has taught during the corresponding 12-month period.
6. Preferred Qualifications:
   
   1. Master’s or Ph.D. in the fields previously mentioned (English-language Arts and Humanities, Languages, Literature, Linguistics, TESOL, TEFL, ESL, EFL, Pedagogy of Languages, or related disciplines).
   2. Demonstrated research experience related to English language education or allied fields in linguistics, humanities, or pedagogy. Desirable qualifications include academic publications, conference presentations, and experience supervising or advising undergraduate or graduate theses.
   3. Experience teaching Academic English, including familiarity with CEFR, TOEFL iBT, and IELTS Academic frameworks.
   – Ability to teach academic writing, such as essays, summaries, and critical reviews.
   – Capacity to deliver English language courses at the following levels:
   – Remedial English (A1–A2)
   – Level 3 (B1.1), Level 4 (B1.2), Level 5 (B2.1), and Level 6 (B2.2) within the General Education Program, aligned with CEFR standards.

Responsibility of the Selected Professional:

1. The selected individual will carry out teaching, research, and outreach activities as deemed appropriate by UITEY, in accordance with higher education laws and regulations.
2. They must conduct research within one of the lines established by the Language Center.
